Humanity has forgotten many things, Perhaps the most important is ---

We are all part of a great consciousness. There is nothing else beside this.

Consciousness is the only reality. High mountains, green forests, fascinating people, proud ambitions --- silver airplanes, twinkling stars, swift-running rivers --- bright lights and shining colors --- all of these are only figments in the dream. Before the dream began, consciousness was the dreamer.

One day soon, all of the ten thousand things will cease to exist. Soft flesh will become dust, while a beautiful girl's laughter is only an echo, then a memory, finally forgotten. Meanwhile, ten thousand other things will take their place.

Whatever man believes, that appears to come true. Whatever the dreamer calls real, that is the reality that he will automatically create. Whatever Adam calls an animal, that is its name. Whatever consciousness consciousizes, that will be the conscious object in conscious consensus reality.

These facts have become obscured in the modern mentality. People have lost control of their own conscious self-definition, instead allowing themselves to be programmed by someone else. They watch a TV screen flooded with illusory dreams which were written by accidental hypnotists who are guided by nothing more than a profit motive. The self-congratulating con men who write the TV programs have learned that the best-selling shows are those which mindlessly appeal to the lowest common denominator in the great majority of people. The more imbecilic the spectacle, the greater the audience. The greater the audience, the more money for the show-creators. The more money for them, the more programs guaranteed to enslave the mass mind, et cetera ad infinitum...

Once started, this process extends everywhere. People grow up fed by TV shows, they identify with some actor, they behave as the show taught them to do. The radio talk reminds them of the same thing, for the disk jockeys were educated like themselves. Their friends do the same thing, their families do the same thing, everyone thinks that this is the normal way of living, and everybody forgets that they are all essentially insane.

The people, in time, have died to their souls, to original thought, to the investigation of what might be the truth. Inside of their TV-educated bubble-dream, illusion is King, and no truth is ever known.

The people have forgotten that all is mind, that their unknown, subconscious consciousness is the very ground on which they stand.

Everyone believes that the phenomena in consciousness have an objective existence in themselves. Everyone seeks desirable phenomena as if they were external objects to be grasped. But in truth, there is nothing but ideas, and states of mind evaluating these ideas.
